Theresa M. Scrofano, 78, Excellent Cook
Theresa M. Scrofano (nee Ricco), 78, of Lorain, died Thursday May 18, 2006 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a lengthy illness.She was born September 17, 1927 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Theresa was a graduate of Lorain High School class of 1945 B. Before she married and started her family she worked at Fischer Dry Goods in Lorain for 2 � years as the manager of the children’s department.
Theresa was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, the Lorain County Ostomy Association in which she was past secretary, the Lorain Democratic Women’s Club, the St. Peter Widow and Widowers Club, a volunteer of many years at Ohio Extended Care Center in Lorain and a past vice-president and acting president of the Boone Elementary PTA.
She was an excellent cook and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, collecting recipes, compiling local cookbook collections and watching her grandchildren. She was an extraordinary homemaker, nurturer and first educator of her children, beloved by her friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Robert (Donna) Pastor of Lorain, son Dominic Scrofano, Jr. of Lorain, daughter Mrs. Stanley (Denise) Truskot of Amherst and son Daniel Scrofano and his wife Barbara of Lorain, 6 grandchildren and sisters Josephine DiTirro of Lorain and Mrs. Donald (Adeline) Anthony of Amherst, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Dominic P. Scrofano in 1979 and parents Joseph and Rose Ricco (nee Messina).
The family will receive friends Sunday 2-4, 7-9 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
