Dennis Joseph Cope, 60, Marion L. Steele High School Graduate of 1963

He was born June 30, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst with the class of 1963.

He served with the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict from 1963 to 1967. Dennis was employed by the Elyria and Parma General Motors Corp. for thirty-seven years, retiring in October 2003. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and was an avid Cleveland sports fan.

Survivors include his mother Mary L. Cope (nee: Chwalizewski) of Lorain; his brothers David D. Cope of Alabama and Douglas Anthony Cope of Lorain; his niece Katie Drewry of Mississippi; and his cousin Tom Lorenz of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his father Douglas Dean Cope on July 24, 1996.

Friends may call Thursday, May 25, 2006, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Burial will be held privately by the family at St. Joseph Cemetery in Amherst.
