Ysidro Garcia, 76, Lake Terminal Railroad Retiree
Ysidro Garcia, 76, of Homerville, died Saturday June 3, 2006 at his home.
He was born May 15, 1930 in Dividend, Utah and had resided in Homerville for one month. He resided in Lorain most of his life.
Ysidro worked at Lake Terminal Railroad in Lorain as a Speed Swing Operator for 42 years retiring in 1991.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lorain, the Mexican Mutual Club and Polish American Citizens Club, both of Lorain. He coached his son’s Hot Stove Baseball teams and was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed family gatherings, cookouts, fishing and his video camera.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Anita Garcia (nee Ceja), sons: Pete Garcia of Amherst and Raul Garcia of Mayfield Village, daughters: Rita Garcia of Lorain, Dianna Smetzer of Homerville, Clair Whorton of Lorain and Michelle Gatrell of Norton, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and sister Rosa Rodriguez of Chicago, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Sarita Garcia, parents Filiberto & Felicitas Garcia (nee Zermeno) and brothers Guadalupe Garcia, Rodolfo Garcia, Gilberto Garcia, Felix Garcia and Eliseo Garcia.
A memorial mass will be held Thursday at 11:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 317 W. 15th St., Lorain. The Rev. James Schmitz, pastor of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain and the Rev. Mr. Lou Maldonado, deacon of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lorain, will concelebrate. Burial will be in Mexico.
