Marvin Edward Keener, 74, Ridge Tools Co. Retiree

Marvin Edward Keener, 74 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.

He was born November 30, 1931 in Frametown, West Virginia where he was raised and lived until age 19. He lived in Lorain for twenty-five years. Vermilion has been his home for the last twenty-two years.

He was employed at Ridge Tools Co. in Elyria for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1991 as a tool maker. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Amherst where he taught Sunday School and was a former deacon. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his sons Mark Keener of Lorain and Steven Keener of Parma; his daughters Sandra Kay of Clear Water, FL and Susan Clarke of Avon Lake; four grandsons; three great grandchildren; his sister Vida Lee Hall of Servia, WV and Ruth Clark of Chester, VA.

He was preceded in deathy by his wife of fifty-two years Myrlene Keener (nee: Greenleaf) on August 31, 2004; by his grandson Jonathan Michael White; by his parents Worthy French and Leah Virginia Keener (nee: Jarvis); and by his sister Mary Wrzosek.

Friends may call Thursday, June 8, 2006, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, June 9, 2006 form 2-4 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2006, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Michael Plog, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Rugby Cemetery, Vermilion Township.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Faith Baptist Church; 440 North Lake St., Amherst 44001.
