Wayne Sheller, 83, Served with the US Marine Corp During World War II
Wayne Sheller, 83 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Monday, June 26, 2006 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness.He was born December 31, 1922 in Ashland, OH. He was raised in Lorain and graduated from Lorain High School. He has been a resident of Amherst for over 50 years.
He served with the US Marine Corp during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Wayne was employed as an operating engineer in construction. He was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst and enjoyed reading, fishing, traveling, and visiting with his grandsons.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years Anna Sheller (nee: Bado); his son Dennis W. Sheller of Still Water, Oklahoma; his daughter Donna Sheller of Amherst; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Vida Sheller (nee: Shaum); and by his brothers Don and Jack Sheller.
Friends may call Wednesday, June 28, 2006, from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 29, 2006, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. The US Marine Corp Funeral Detail will perform honors. The Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in the Cleveland Avenue Cemetery, Amherst.
