Saundra M. Rogers, 65, Avid Card Player & Baseball Fan

Photo of Saundra M.  Rogers Saundra M. Rogers (nee Koler), 65, of Lorain, died Tuesday June 27, 2006 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a short illness with cancer.

She was born March 8, 1941 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Saundra was a 1959 graduate of Lorain High School. She worked as a Veterinarian’s Assistant for J.M. & T.W. Gigliotti at the Amherst Animal Hospital and later worked as an insurance clerk/cashier at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain for 15 years retiring in 1981.

Saundra was an active member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain. She was an avid little league baseball and major league baseball fan and her favorite teams were the Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed watching professional football and was an avid card player who enjoyed visiting Las Vegas. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her nieces Anne Dury and Jennifer Fayer, both of Lorain, nephews Theodore Koler, Jr. of Minnesota, David Koler of North Royalton and Alex Koler of Wakeman. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter Rogers in 2000, parents Alex and Julia Koler (nee Daraby) and brother Theodore Koler in 2004.

The family will receive friends Thursday 6-9 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, 1412 E. 29th St., Lorain. The Rev. James Schmitz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
