Marlene A. Simpson, 58, Computer Technician
Marlene A. Simpson, 58 of Amherst died early Thursday morning, June 29, 2006, at her home following a long illness.Ms. Simpson was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 2, 1948. She was a graduate of Vermilion High School and Lorain County Community College. She had been a computer technician for Centurytel for over 30 years. She is a member of St. Mary Church in Lorain.
She was an amateur genealogist documenting her family back to 1175 AD. She was a member of the DAR. She enjoyed snow skiing, boating and water skiing. She was well traveled including trips to Ireland, England, Germany, Italy, France and Mexico. She accomplished repelling ini the Sierra Nevada Range and white water rafting in Alaska.
Ms. Simpson was also very interested in recycling. She spearheaded a paper recycle program while working for Centurytel.
She is survived by her husband Bruce Bevan, son Alex Simpson Bevan of Amherst, one grandson and one granddaughter.
Ms. Simpson was preceded in death by her parents Howard D. and Lois (nee English) Simpson.
Memorial Mass at St. Mary Church, corner of Eighth and Reid Avenues will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 3, 2006, with Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor of St. Mary Church, officiating.
