Frieda Howells, 59, Legal Secretary at Liberty Mutual Insurance

She was born October 31, 1946 in Lorain and had resided in Elyria Township for most of her life.

Frieda worked as a legal secretary for 25 years and had worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for the past 10 years retiring in 2005.

Frieda was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria and a past member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain. She taught second grade PSR at St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria. She enjoyed swimming, bowling and attending the theater.

She is survived by her husband of 9 years Gerald Howells, daughter Christine Mazurek of Oberlin, stepson Robert Howells of North Ridgeville, 3 grandsons and sisters Loretta Schroeder of Avon Lake and Martha Meyer of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her son Anthony Mazurek in 1989 and parents Reinhold “Shorty” Delkus in 1982 and Sophie Delkus (nee Mateka) in 1974.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
