Nelly Marie Carver, 76, Enjoyed Canning Food and Bowling

Nelly Marie Carver (nee: Zirkle), 76 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2006 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria.

She was born April 13, 1930 in Montrose, West Virginia and raised in Randolph County, West Virginia. Lorain has been her home for fifty-one years.

Nellie was a homemaker. She was a member of the Amherst Church of the Nazarene where she served in the Senior Adult Ministry. She enjoyed canning food and bowling. She loved children and served many families in the area has a babysitter, later caring for children of her former charges.

Survivors include her sons Michael Duane Carver and Melvin Dean Carver, both of Lorain and Larry Neal Carver of West Virginia; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her brothers Daniel “Eddie” Zirkle of West Virginia; Lloyd Jack Zirkle and Donnie Zirkle, both of Mabie, West Virginia; and his sisters Betty Sturdivent of Mabie, West Virginia, Bertie Stone of Thornton, West Virginia, Artie Shiflett of Elkins, West Virginia, and Jean Simmons of Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-eight years, Franklin D. Carver on April 26, 1983; by her parents Daniel Zirkle in 1994 and Emily Zirkle (nee: Shreve) in 1984; and by her brother and sister Andrew and Edith Zirkle in 1949.

Friends may call Monday, July 31, 2006, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Amherst Church of the Nazarene; 210 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at 10 a.m. from the church. The Rev. Rich Henry, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmhurst Park Cemetery, Avon.
