Sylvia Banovich, 83, Secretary

Sylvia Banovich (nee Ziberna) 83 of Lorain died Monday, August 7, 2006 in E. M. H. Regional Medical center, Elyria following a sudden illness.

She was born October, 10 1922 in Lorain and was a life long resident. She graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1940-A.

Mrs. Banovich had worked on and off as a secretary in the accounting department of U. S. Steel, Lorain-Cuyahoga Works, Lorain.

She was a member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Slovenian Catholic Church, Lorain, Also the S. D. Z., K. S. K. J and A. L. M. A. Lodges. She was also a member of The Light Hearted Club. Mrs. Banovich was a home maker and mother who enjoyed gardening, the Cleveland Indians and watching her grandchildren's sports and activities.

Among the survivors are her husband of 59 years Robert Banovich of Lorain; son Robert J. Banovich of Lorain; sister Patricia Kershaw of Grafton; sister Louise Janosik of Sheffield Lake; two grand daughters and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Josephine (nee Popek) Ziberna and a sister Josephine Ziberna.

Friends may call Wednesday, August 9, 2006, 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, where a Parish Rosary will be said 7:00 PM in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 10, 2002 with closing prayers in the funeral home at 9:30 AM and then Mass at 10:00 AM in Saints Cyril and Methodius Slovenian Catholic Church, East 31st Street and Globe Avenue, Lorain.
