Joseph M. Nemec Sr., 79, US Steel Retiree
Joseph M. Nemec Sr. 79 of Lorain died Wednesday August 9, 2006 at his home after a brief illness.He was born May 21, 1927 in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain since 1953.
Joseph served with the US Army during World War II in Europe.
He worked at US Steel in Lorain as a crane operator and in the coupling shop for 30 years retiring in 1984.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and his pet dog Rocky. He also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns.
He is survived by his daughters Ann Marie Kilargis of Tucson, Arizona and Monica Clark of Amherst Township, son Joseph M. Nemec, Jr. of North Ridgeville, 8 grandchildren, brothers Anthony Nemec of Loretto, Pennsylvania and Albert Nemec and Michael Nemec, both of Portage, Pennsylvania and sisters Helen Ganley of Lily, Pennsylvania, Cecilia Baer of Spring Hill, Pennsylvania, Anna Jubine of Patton, Pennsylvania and Verna Nemec of Mount Clemens, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Nemec (nee Rusinko) in 2005, parents George & Veronika Nemec, brothers John Nemec and George Nemec and sisters Pauline Nemec and Mary Palach.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 13, 2006, from 2-4, 7-9 PM at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian burial Monday at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak pastor will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the Disbled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain. Private burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
