Wendy Marie Mateo Thompson 40 of Lorain died Friday, August 18, 2006 in her home.She was a born May 20, 1966. She was a life long resident of Lorain. She graduated in 1984 from South View High School, Lorain. She attended Lorain County Community College to study for a career in medicine. She joined the Army 1990.
Mrs. Thompson was employed for Angelica Health Care Services Group, Lorain. She worked there for 6 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart, Lorain. She enjoyed collecting dolphin figurines and seashells. She loved to read and help her grandmother in her garden.
Among the survivors are her husband Robert Paul Thompson, Jr. of Lorain; sons Joel Robert Mateo and Shalamar DePaul Thompson both of Lorain; her parients Carmen Delgado of Lorain and Angel Mateo of Chicago; brother Angel Mateo of Lutz, Florida; sisters Ruby Mateo Rivera of Lorain, Toni Lynn Mateo and Marisol Delgado both of Lorain, Angela, Linda and Cindy Mateo all of Chicago; Maternal grandmother Antonia Santiago of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grand father Tomas Santiago, paternal grand parents Luciana and Emilio Mateo.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 22, 2006 8:30 AM until time of Mass 9:30 at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain 44055. The Reverend Fr. Bruce Ward, former pastor of Sacred Heart Chapel now missioned in Mexico will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Disabled American Veterens Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20, Lorain will conduct military honors.
