Olga J. Mateok, 84, Accomplished Baker

Olga J. Matotek, (nee Obreza), age 84, of Amherst, died Tuesday August 22, 2006 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Matotek was born in Lorain on November 22, 1921 and had been a resident of Amherst for the past forty-five years.

Olga attended Lorain High School; during World War II she was employed as an inspector for the Bendix Corporation

She was a parishioner of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, as well as the National Association of Railroad Veteran Employees. She was a former member of the Lorain Slovenian Club.

Her hobbies included collecting ceramic figurines and playing cards. She was also an accomplished baker who enjoyed playing bingo.

Survivors include her husband of sixty years Ludwig, sons Dennis C. Matotek and Stephen J. Matotek both of Amherst, daughter Michele Bartlome of Amherst, four grandchildren, and a sister Molly Papp residing in Avon.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Frances (nee Popek) Obreza, and by brothers Frank Rozanc, Jeff Rozanc, and Louis Rozanc.

Friends may call Friday, August 25, 2006 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway – Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday beginning with closing prayers at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Joseph Catholic Church – 200 Saint Joseph Drive – Amherst. The Reverend Lawrence Martello, M.Div., pastor of Saint Joseph Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery – Lorain.
