Raimundo ''Mundo'' Solis, 82, Ford Ohio Assembly Plant Inspector
Raimundo "Mundo" Solis, 82, of Lorain died Friday, August 25, 2006 in Community Health Partners hospital, Lorain following a sudden illness.He was born March 13, 1924 in Yabuacoa, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain in 1954.
He graduated High School in Puerto Rico and received a degree in Bible Studies in Cleveland.
Mr. Solis retired in 1986 as an inspector in the Ford Ohio Assembly Plant, Avon Lake. He worked for Ford for 26 years. Previously to that he worked 10 years as an orderly in the former Saint Joseph Hospital, Lorain.
He was and World War II Army Veteran. He earned Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Metal with two overseas bars, the American Theater Service Metal and the World War II Victory Metal.
Mr. Solis was a member of the Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal "Ebenezer", Lorain, where he taught Sunday School and was a church musician. He was a member of the church's Society of Cabiarros. He Enjoyed playing the guitar and playing religious music, photography and reading.
Among the survivors are his wife of 36 years Carmen (nee Jimenez); sons Edmundo, Ivan and Rubin Solis all of Lorain; daughters Doris Rivera-Pressler of Huron, Janet Hines of Elyria and Noemi Pagan of Lorain; sisters Josefa Solis of Humacao, Puerto Rico and Octavia Solis of Cannovana, Puerto Rico; seventeen grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in dealth by his parents Eleno and Pascula (nee Arroyo) Solis; a son Rey Solis; brothers Marco, Jesus and Benito Solis.
Friends may call Monday, August 28, 2006 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal "Ebenezer", 3660 Globe Avenue, Lorain, where the funeral service will be Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 10:00 AM in the church. The Reverend Rogelio Rivera, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township. The Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20, Lorain will conduct military honors.
