Dennis J. McCartney, 64, Loved to Play Baseball with Grandson

Mr. McCartney was born in Lorain, OH on March 2, 1942, and lived in Lorain until moving to Elyria about 10 years ago. He was a graduate of Lorain High School in the class of 1960. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Christian Temple Disciples of Christ Lorain, OH. He was a retired auditor at Sunoco, Inc.

Mr. McCartney loved to play baseball with his grandson, D.J. with whom he made his home. He enjoyed Cleveland area sports teams and was a former basketball coach in the church league.

He is survived by a son Dennis McCartney of Oxford, PA., daughters Roberta Mitchell of Elyria, Melissa Barker, Denise Woodward both of Lorain, 8 grandchildren, brothers Thomas E. McCartney, Bruce McCartney both of Lorain and Charles McCartney of Northville, MI.

He was preceded in death by his wife Michelle J. (nee Wellman) McCartney on September 12, 2005, a grandson Zachary McCartney in 2000 and his parents Thomas H. and Vera A. (Herrmann) McCartney.

Friends may call Wednesday, August 30, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.

Funeral Services at the funeral home will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 31, 2006, with Rev. Bradley J. Donahue, pastor of Christian Temple-Disciples of Christ Church and his nephew Pastor Bruce McCartney officiating.

Burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township, OH. with full military burial honors provided jointly by the American Legion Post # 30 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 451.

Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Northern Lake Region 1689 E. 115th Street Cleveland, OH 44106.
