Mary Zunich, 91, Was Active At Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church

Mary Zunich, (nee Maravich), age 91, of Lorain, died Friday September 1, 2006 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Zunich was born in Lorain on October 18, 1914 and had been a life-long resident of the city.

She was a graduate of Lorain High School and was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for the Kunich Hudson Dealership and later as a seamstress for the Wietz Clothing Company.

Mrs. Zunich was a member of Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church in Lorain where she was a member of the choir and Mother’s Club of the church. She was also a member and former officer of the Ladies’ Circle there.

Mary’s hobbies included cooking, baking, and travel.

She is survived by her son Michael R. Zunich of Sheffield Village and a daughter Darlene Zunich of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband Demeter Zunich in 2000, by her parents Joseph and Simica (nee Pavlovich) Maravich, by sisters Mildred Dukich and Sophie Milovich, and by brothers Mile and Rudy Maravich.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5, 2006, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue – Lorain where a Pomen service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Her funeral liturgy will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Basil Stoyka, Pastor of Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery – Lorain.

Family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church 2210 East 33rd Street, Lorain, OH 44055 or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 634445, Cincinnati, OH 45263.
