Anthony Dor�, Sr., 83, Ohio Edison Retiree
Anthony Doré, Sr., 83, of Lorain died Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain.He was born May 5, 1923 near Naples, Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1928. He lived most of his life in Lorain.
Anthony served with the US Army during World War II as a corporal in the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment 3rd Armored Division. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon w/1 Bronze Star, WWII Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Anthony worked at Ohio Edison as a machinist for 37 years retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, Italian-American Veterans Post #1, Veterans of Foreign Wars #451, Ohio Edison Men’s Club, Ohio Edison Retirees and the 14th Street Gang.
Anthony coached Lorain Youth Baseball and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Aida Doré (nee LaFace), son Anthony Doré Jr. of Brownhelm Township, daughter Kathleen Ann Kinsley of Wakeman, son Ronald A. Doré of Collins, 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, brother Philip Doré of Lorain and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Salvatore & Michelina Doré (nee DiBennedetto), son-in-law John Kinsley in 2005 and sister Marie Caldwell.
The family will receive friends Friday 4-8 PM at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Italian-American Veterans Post #1 will conduct military honors.
