Esther Schuehrer, 74, Lorain Day Care Founder

Esther Schuehrer, age 74, of Sheffield Township, died Sunday September 17, 2006 in the Medical Intensive Care Unit of Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center - Lorain; she had been ill since March.

Miss Schuehrer was born in North Ridgeville, Ohio on March 29, 1932 and was a graduate of Westlake High School. She had been a resident of Sheffield Township since 1968 coming from Westlake.

Esther established Miss Esther’s KinderCare in 1968 and had continued to operate the day care center for the past thirty-eight years. She enjoyed everything that interested her students and in her free time enjoyed sewing, animals, and cooking.

She is survived by a sister Marion Schuehrer also of Sheffield Township along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Maria (nee Mueller) Schuehrer, by a brother John, and by her four year old sister Hilda.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue – Lorain where funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Fields Cemetery – North Ridgeville.

The family suggests contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
