Freda Winifred Roberts, 96, Enjoyed painting & crocheting

Freda Winifred Roberts (nee: Lines), 96 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Monday, September 18, 2006 at her daughter's home.

She was born September 26, 1909 in Deansboro, New York where she was raised. She moved to Clinton, New York in 1951 and has been a resident of Elyria since 1973.

In additon to being a homemaker, she worked odd jobs outside the home such as a sales clerk at Woolworth for about ten years, the Lutheran Nursing Home in Clinton, New York, and during World War I, she worked in a knitting mill. While living in Elyria, she was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Amnerst. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, gardening, crafts, cake decorating, and cooking.

Survivors include her son Edwin R. Roberts of Hickory, Pennsylvania; her daughter Joyce Upton of Elyria; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years Ralph S. Roberts in 1976; by her father William Lines and her mother Emma White Lines-Sommers (nee: VanHovenberg); by her brother Arthur Lines; and by her sisters Bessie Tallman, Leah Denison Russell, Ella Lines and Leslie S. Lines.

Friends may call Thursday, September 21, 2006, from 6-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. Amherst. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Septmeber 23, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. from the Deansboro Cemetery, Deansboro, New York. Her grandson, Rev. Dr. Doug Upton will officiate.
