Ben John Rozsos, 91, Enjoyed Golfing and Gardening

Ben John Rozsos, 91 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Community Health Partners H & S Center in Lorain.

He was born August 22, 1915 in Henrietta Township where he was raised and lived before moving to Amherst sixty-seven years ago.

He was employed with the Lake Terminal Railroad as an electrician, retiring in the early 1980's. Ben was a member of the 1936 Henrietta High School State Basketball Champions. He was a former member of the Amherst Congregational united Church of Christ. He was a fifty-year member and Grand Master of the Stonington Masonic Lodge #503; the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch; the York Right; the Nights Templer; and Priest High Priest of the Elyria Marshal Chapter #47. He enjoyed golfing and gardening.

Survivors include his daughter Patricia "Penny" Knepper of Elyria; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and his sisters Helen Dugovich of Middleburg Heights, Margaret Kinsley of Henrietta, and Julia Denger of Xenia.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Rozsos (nee Guiselman) on June 4, 1992; by his son Roger Rozsos in 1993; by his parents Benjamin and Rose Rozsos (nee Katko); by his brother Roger Rozsos; and by his sisters Rose Mary Schneider in 2004 and Elizabeth Rozsos in infancy.

Friends may call Thursday, September 29, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Graveside committal service will be held Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. from Ridge Hill Memorial Park with memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. from St. Peter United Church of Christ; 582 Church St. Amherst. The Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor, will officiate.
