Charles R. Schiewe, 74, Enjoyed Hunting & Fishing

Charles R. Schiewe, 74 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at Good Samaritan Nursing home in Avon following a brief illness.

He was born April 16, 1932 in Port Clinton, Ohio. Lorain has been his home for the last thirty-five years.

Charles was employed by the Lorain Plant of Ford Motor Corp. for 39 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the UAW Local 425 of Lorain and the Bow and Barrel Club in Amherst. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Survivors include his sons Richard Schiewe of Toledo, Gary Gillespie of Smithers, West Virginia, and David Gillespie of Oberlin; his daughter Roberta Boyer of Akron and Jo Ellen Morris of Toledo; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; his brother Danny Schiewe of Port Clinton; his sister Cheryl "Susie" Furnace of Port Clinton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-five years Emma Jean Schiewe (nee McGraw) in 1997; by his parents Charles and Agnes Schiewe (nee Drusbacky); and by his daughter Betty jean Straub in 2003.

Friends may call Friday, September 29, 2006, from 4-6 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Petric, pastor of New Life Assembly of Wellington and Charles' granddaughter, Rev. Christina Clouston of New Life Assembly of Wellington, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Ireland Cancer Center, 41201 Schaden Rd. Elyria 44035.
