James R. Beres, 61, Purchaser for LifeShare Community Blood Services, Elyria
James R. Beres 61 of Carlisle Township died Monday, October 30, 2006 in his home.He was born April 13, 1945 in Lorain. He lived in Lorain for 30 years before moving to Avon in 1975. In 1997 he relocated to Carlisle Township.
He graduated from Admiral King High School in 1963. He also received a certificate from.
He was a U. S. Army Veteran.
He was employed as a purchaser for LifeShare Community Blood Services, Elyria. He worked there for 5 years. He retired in 1999 as a Maintenance Supervisor at United States Steel Co., Lorain-Cuyahoga Works, Lorain. He worked there for 35 years.
He had also taught on site overhead crane safety for Lorain County Joint Vocational School, Oberlin.
He was president of the Black River Browns Backers, Lorain. He was a founding father of the Black River Conservation Association, Lorain. He was president of the Hungarian Young Men's Society, Lorain. He was also a member of the Polis Fisherman's Club, Amherst Rod and Reel Club, Moose Lodge 78, Lorain, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4354, Wakeman and the South Cuyahoga, Jefferson County and Wells Township Sporting Clubs.
Among the survivors are his sons James J. Beres of Monclova, Michael P. of Avon and William Mathews of Carlisle Township; Daughters Janice Zander of Avon Lake and Katherine Turner of Lorain; his long time companion Beverly Matthews of Carlisle Township; brothers Thomas P. Beres of Saint Petersburg, Florida and William J. Beres of Cambridge, Ohio; a sister Barbra Clark of Vermilion; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years Florence (nee Sines) Beres in 1994; his parents James J. and Marjorie A. Nee (Ellis) Beres and a son Bryan Beres in 1976.
Friends may call Thursday, November 2, 2006, 3:00 to 9:00 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio. Parish Rosary will be prayed Thursday afternoon at 3:30 PM in the funeral home. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 3, 2006 with closing prayers at 10:00 AM followed by Mass of the Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Saint Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
