Alta Mae Davis, 87, Enjoyed Traveling and Gardening

Alta Mae Davis (nee Hoover), 87, of Lorain, died Sunday November 5, 2006 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain after a lengthy illness.

She was born May 7, 1919 in Portsmouth, Ohio and had resided in Lorain since 1951. She had been a resident at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home for three years. She attended Portsmouth High School.

Alta Mae worked at General Industries in Elyria as a machine operator and then at Moen in Elyria as a machine operator retiring in 1981. She enjoyed traveling with her friends, gardening, fishing and dancing.

She is survived by her son’s Richard R. Davis of Lorain and James E. Davis of Spring Hill, Florida, grandsons Larry R. Davis of Vermilion, James E. Davis, Jr. and Timothy H. Davis, both of Florida, great grandchildren Juston G. Davis of Wisconsin and Misty A. Barker of Lorain and great great granddaughters Bethany Davis and Rachel L. Barker. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Fathia Hoover (nee Cremeans), sister Ruby Pyles, brother Albert Hoover and grandson Mark A. Davis.
