Gloria Normando, 80
Gloria J. Normando (nee Derby), 80, of Vermilion, died Sunday, November 5, 2006 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a lengthy illness.She was born September 7, 1926 in Amherst, Ohio. She has been a life long resident of Vermilion where her father, "Pete" Derby, owned and operated the Captain's Chair in downtown Vermilion for 45 years.
She was a graduate of the Vermilion High School Class of 1944. She had worked in administration for Firelands School district, Nor-Je Equipment in Birmingham, and Sharpnack Chevrolet in Vermilion.
She was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Jim Normando of Birmingham; 2 daughters, Judy Ames of Milan, and Mary Kulp of Wellington; and 4 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Normando in 1986, and her parents, Clifford and Minnie (nee Malcomson) Derby.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at11 am the Birmingham United Methodist Church, 15018 South Street, Birmingham, with Reverend J. Dennis Henkle, pastor, officiating.
