Ronald Auth, 80, World War II Veteran
Ronald Marion Auth, 80 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2006 at his home following a short illness.He was born September 6, 1926 in Charleston, West Virginia and raised in Wheeling, West Virginia. He has been a resident of the Lorain and Amherst area for the last sixty years.
He served in the US Army with the 13th Military Parachute Maintenance Company and with the Military Police Section 2118 during World War II. Ronald was employed as a brakeman and yard master for thirty-seven years with the B and O Rail Road and the CCX Rail Road. He was a member of the Amherst Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1662, the Amherst Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #1442, the Amhest American Legion Post #118, the Lorain Amvets, and the Lorain Free and Accepted Mason Lodge #552. His hobbies included working outdoors and gardening.
Survivors include his daughter Joyce of Amherst; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his wife of fifty-three years Donnienita Auth (nee: Emerson) on Feburary 11, 2003; by his son Lesley in 2000; and by his mother Marion (nee Matheny).
Friends may call Wednesday, November 15, 2006 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amhrest. Funeral services with the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will be held Thursday November 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Reverend N. James Greenawalt will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
