Edward Lantz, 83, Fisher, Hunter, Golfer

Edward L. Lantz, 83, of Vermilion , died Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Oak Hills Nursing Center, Lorain, after a 4 month illness.

He was born August 22, 1923 in North Ridgeville. He was a United States Army Veteran of WW II and served in the South Pacific. He worked as a crane operator at U.S. Steel and was a journeyman plasterer and co-owner of L & M. Plastering. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, VFW Post 7576 Vermilion and AMVETS Post 47 Lorain. He enjoyed horses, dogs, fishing, hunting, and golfing.

Survivors include his daughters, Karen Clark and Kathryn Lantz of Vermilion; a grandson, Tom Hissem, Vermilion and sisters, Dr. Barbara Lyons, Marquette, Michigan and Mary Dalzell, Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances M. (nee Jahn) on June 14, 1998; a granddaughter, Carol Settle, brothers, Park, Clyde and Blake Lantz, a sister, Martha Marsh, a foster brother, Jack Jones and his parents, Blake Nelson and Ella Margaret (nee Merrick) Lantz.

Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Grace Methodist Church, Coen and West Lake Roads, Vermilion. The Reverend Joan Skelley-Watts will officiate.
