Steven R. Hamrlik, 88, CYO Basketball and Little League Coach
Steven R. Hamrlik, 88 of Lorain, died Thursday, November 16, 2006 in Oak Hills Nursing Center, Lorain after a lengthy illness.He was born February 7, 1918 in Ambridge, PA and has been a Lorain resident since 1954.
He worked as a foreman for National Tube, Lorain and retired after 35 years.
He was a member of the Church of St. Peter and its Holy Name Society and the Moose Club in Lorain. He was an avid sports fan and had coached CYO basketball and Little League baseball. He enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary E. (nee Gerega) Hamrlik of Sheffield Lake; 2 daughters, Diane Hamrlik of Sheffield Lake and Marilyn Kapsch of Cary, N. Carolina; 2 sons, James Hamrlik of Charlotte, N. Carolina, and Jeffrey Hamrlik of Amherst; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Alice Forrest of Sewickley, PA and Carolyn Dennerlein of Ambridge, PA.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Stephen and Pauline (nee Faytak) Hamrlik and a sister Angela Harris.
Friends may call Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006 from 2-5 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.
Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Monday Nov. 27, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. followed by an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Chuck Henkle will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
