Irene Carney, 78, Former Cadillac Tank Plant Key Punch Operator

Irene Carney (nee Berta), age 78 of Lorain, died Friday November 24, 2006 at her residence after an illness of several months. Mrs. Carney was born January 28, 1928 in Lorain, where she remained a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of the former Lorain High School as a member of the class of 1946.

Irene was employed as a keypunch operator at the former Cadillac Tank Plant in Brookpark, Ohio for a number of years.

Mrs. Carney was a member of the Worldwide Church of God; she was extremely devoted to her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her immediate and extended family.

She is survived by her sons Gar "Butch" Carney of Oberlin, Charles Greg Carney and Dave Carney both of Lorain, granddaughter Allison Carney, grandsons Mike and John Carney, brother, Leslie Berta of Lorain, and sister Helen Misley of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles "Charlie" Carney in 2005, parents Leslie and Anna (nee Bruscko) Berta, and by brothers Andrew and Elmer Berta
