Robert G. "Bob" Goforth, 79, Enjoyed Boating and fishing
Robert G. "Bob" Goforth, 79 of Sheffield Village died Thursday, December 7, 2006 in E. M. H. Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.He was born August 26, 1927 in Lorain. He was a Lorain resident for 30 years before moving to Sheffield Village in 1957. He was a graduate of Lorain High School in 1945.
Mr. Goforth retired in 1983 as a general foreman of number 4 rolling mill department, conditioning, peelers and grinders shops of United States Steel, Lorain-Cuyahoga Work, Lorain. He worked there for 40 Years.
He was an active member of Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ of Lorain. He was the English Chairman of the churches' consistory and a member of the Men's Brotherhood. He served as an usher. He was a familiar smiling face in the churches' kitchen helping with all the Hungarian and church functions. He was also a member the Hungarian Reformed Sick Benefit Society and Federal Credit Union of Lorain, Lorain County Hungarian Council, American-Hungarian Citizens Club and there Hungarian Man of the Year, Hungarian Friends Society, Saint Lads, Hungarian Young Men's Clubs, Croation Club, Ukrainian Club and the U. S. Steel Management Club bowling and golf leagues. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and R.V.ing to Florida.
Among the survivors are his sons Robert D. Goforth of Vermilion and Dale R. Goforth of Sheffield Village; daughter Kathy Lingenfelter of Cleveland; brothers Gene Goforth of Sheffield Village and Jack Goforth of Casco, Florida; six grand children and six great grand children.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Yolanda Goforth (nee Szucs) in 2002; his parents Robert G. and Ann C. (nee Lukesic) Goforth; and a sister Shirley Renouard.
Friends may call Monday, December 11, 2006, 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio, where a prayer service will be 8:00 PM Monday evening in the funeral home. Friends may also call Tuesday, December 12, 2006, Noon until time of service at 1:00 PM in the Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ, 1691 East 31st Street, Lorain.
