J. Dale Skrepich, 55, Avid Sports Fan

J. Dale Skrepich, age 55, of Lorain, died Friday December 8, 2006 at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation following an extended illness. Mr. Skrepich was born in Lorain on March 25, 1951.

He attended Saint Nicholas Parochial School and was a member of the first graduating class there. Dale went on to Admiral King High School where he participated as a member of the varsity football team graduating in 1969. Following his commencement, he enrolled at Bluffton College where he also played football while pursuing a business curriculum.

In 1974 he moved to North Hollywood, California subsequently returning to Ohio in 1990. He had most recently been employed as a customer service representative and warehouseman for the Weber Gauge Division of the L.S. Starrett Corporation in Westlake.

He was a parishioner of Saint Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain and was a member of the Holy Name Society there. He was also a member and former secretary of A.R.S. Greek Catholic Union Lodge # 77. He was an avid fan of Ohio State University athletics and also enjoyed watching televised golf and football events.

He is survived by his wife of ten years Marilyn (nee Wells), daughters Tania Clark of Lorain and Sarah Skrepich at home, five grandchildren, parents Joseph and Margaret I. (nee Stanko) Skrepich of Lorain, and sister Sandy Farnsworth of Amherst.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia (nee Thompson) in 1990.

Friends may call Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue – Lorain where a Parastas service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday beginning with a Panachida service at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the conduction of the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church – 2711 West 40th Street. The Reverend Nicholas Rachford, pastor of Saint Nicholas Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery – Lorain.
