Stella L. Urbanic, 92, Proud Member of the Red Hat Society
Stella L. Urbanic (nee Pincura), 92, of Sheffield Village, died Saturday December 16, 2006 at her home after a long illness.She was born September 13, 1914 in Lorain and had resided in Sheffield Village for the past 40 years moving from Lorain.
Stella was a graduate of Lorain High School where she was active in athletics by participating in softball, basketball and bowling.
She was an active member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Sheffield Village and the church Altar & Rosary Society, a member of the Avon Senior Center and the Red Hat Society. She was a past member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lorain.
Stella enjoyed pinochle and other card games and collected Roseville pottery.
She is survived by her sons Charles J. Urbanic of Sheffield Village and Michael A. Urbanic of Florida, 4 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles G. Urbanic on July 12, 1999 who was former head football coach of Lorain High School, parents John & Frances Pincura (nee Skolnicki), sister Rose Szanty and brothers Joseph Pincura, John D. Pincura, Ludwig Tiny Pincura, Louis Lefty Pincura, Peter Pincura and Stan Pincura.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4, 7-9 PM at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the St. Teresa Altar & Rosary Society will recite the rosary Tuesday at 3:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1878 Abbe Rd., Sheffield Village. The Rev. Robert J. Franco, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
