Steve Kraly, 80, World War II Veteran
Steve Kraly, 80, of Lorain, died Sunday December 17, 2006 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a lengthy illness.He was born May 1, 1926 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident. Steve served with the US Army during WWII in the European Theater. He worked at US Steel in Lorain as a carpenter for 40 years retiring in 1987.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Holy Name Society. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 in Lorain and the American Slovak Club. He enjoyed life and being with people.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Lucille Kraly (nee Wilson), sons: David A. Kraly of Abilene, Texas and Edward J. Kraly of Hudson, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and brother Peter Kraly of Strongsville. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Julia Kraly (nee Ticik), sister Mary Ardick and brothers George Kraly, Michael Kraly and John Kraly.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 4-7 PM at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the Parastas service will be held Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the Divine Liturgy at 11:00 AM at St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th St., Lorain. The Rev. Nicholas Rachford, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 will conduct military honors.
