Dorothy K. Kowalewski, 81, Enjoyed Bowling & Bingo

She was born May 17, 1925 in Lorain and has been a lifelong resident.

She graduated from Lorain High School. She retired from York International where she worked as a secretary and had also worked for Fruehauf Co. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and traveling.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jerome Kowalewski; daughter, Candice A. Gubeno of New London; son, Russell J. Shirkey of Lorain; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded-in-death by her parents, Steve and Sophie (nee Kozlowski) Striker, Sr. and brothers, Richard, Donald and Steve, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 9, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain.

Closing prayers will be said at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. The Reverend Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
