Dorothy M. Bursley, 67, Registered Nurse at St. Joseph and Lorain Community Hospitals

Dorothy M. Bursley (nee Thomas), 67, of Lorain, died Sunday January 7, 2007 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria.

She was born March 27, 1939 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Dorothy worked as a registered nurse at the former St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain and at Lorain Community Hospital for 35 years retiring in 1987.

She was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Lorain. She enjoyed reading books and working crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her daughters: Lynn Bursley of Lorain, Darlean Vanek of Elyria and Dori Bursley of Elyria, grandchildren Katie Bursley, Eddie Vanek, Madison Bursley and Meghan Bursley, brother David Thomas of Vermilion and sister Margaret Hackney of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Almon “Butch” Bursley in 1982, infant son Bryan Bursley in 1994, parents John J. & Margaret M. Thomas (nee Schrenkel) and brothers John Thomas, Jr. and Albert Thomas.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 12 noon at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Thomas R. Smith, pastor of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
