Karen S. Jones, 66, Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine
Karen S. Jones, DO, 66 years of age, and a resident of Panama City, Florida, passed away Monday, January 8 , 2007 at Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida following a sudden illness.She was born June 17, 1940 in Amherst. She was raised in South Amherst and graduated from the South Amherst High School with the class of 1958. She had been a resident of Florida since 1978.
Karen is a 1963 graduate of Kent State University and a 1968 graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathy Medicine. She practiced medicine for nearly twenty years, retiring in 1986. While in Ohio she was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in South Amherst. Her hobbies included flying with her own pilot’s license, motorcycle riding, and traveling.
Survivors include her sister Janice Szmania of South Amherst; five nieces and two nephews; several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Betty Jones (nee: Mori); and by her sister Dawne Watling.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in South Amherst with Rev. Paul D. Eaton officiating.
