David Paul Dickerhoff, 66, Enjoyed Bowling and Golfing

Photo of David Paul Dickerhoff David Paul Dickerhoff, 66 of Vermilion, died Thursday, January 11, 2007 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born February 26, 1940 in Lorain, Ohio and has been a life long Vermilion resident.

He was a graduate of Vermilion High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving our country for four years. He worked as an insurance salesman for John Hancock, retiring after 30 years. He then worked at Captain Larry's Shell Station in Vermilion, owned by his brother and also drove cars for Liberty Ford Lincoln Mercury in Vermilion.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion, AMVETS Post #22, American Legion Post #397, and past president of the Vermilion Alumni Band. He enjoyed bowling on the American Legion League, golfing, watching TV, and especially enjoyed going to Vermilion High School basketball and football games.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Joyce Dickerhoff (nee Jones), sons, Scott Dickerhoff of Amherst, and Chris Dickerhoff of North Olmsted; daughter, Lisa Naill of Vermilion; 5 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Russ and Larry Dickerhoff of Vermilion and several nieces and a nephew.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ellsworth and Mabel (nee Grisel) Dickerhoff.

Friends may call Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 7 pm.

Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion on Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Wendell Brooker, pastor, officiating.
