Emma M. Fazey, 87, Enjoyed Day Trips

Emma M. Fazey (nee: Vargo), 87 years of age, formerly of South Amherst, and a resident of Avon, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home.

She was born April 18, 1919 in South Amherst where she was a lifetime resident.

Emma was a homemaker who enjoyed going on day trips, embroidery, Indians baseball and was an avid crossword puzzle fan. She was a member of Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in South Amherst and active in the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include her husband of forty-three years Elton E. Fazey; her sister Ann Amenhauser of Avon; her brother John Vargo, Sr. of Vermilion; several nieces and nephews; and several great and great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father John Vargo; her mother Mary (nee: Smith) ; and by her sisters Elizabeth Tirpack and Helen Zukowski.

Friends may call Friday, January 19, 2007 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hempel funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. Amherst. Closing prayers will be held Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 9:20 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. from Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; 333 North Lake St., South Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Denis St. Marie, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
