Richard Steavan McLellan, 57, U.S. Navy Veteran

Richard Steavan McLellan, 57 of Lorain died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Community Regional Health Center in Lorain.

Mr. McLellan was born in Battlecreek, MI on October 25, 1949. He moved to Lorain as a small child and has lived here the majority of his life. He graduated in 1967 from Admiral King High School and immediately enlisted in the Navy. He served in the US Navy from 1971-1973 as a Petty Officer 3rd class.

He was employed by the Oglebee Pellet Terminal on Whiskey Island as an electrician. He transfered there after the Pellet Terminal in Lorain closed.

Mr. McLellan was a scuba diver instructor. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in southern Ohio.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis K. (nee Peterson) McLellan, two stepsons Deryl Minnich of Avon, Michael Minnich of Lorain, step daughter Michelle Minnich Young of Cleveland, 5 grandchildren, sisters, Aleta DeBee and Julie Moody both of Seattle, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents William A. and Margaret P. (nee Hunter) McLellan.

Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Sunday, January 21, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, January 22, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington St., Lorain, OH, with Rev. Jimmy Madsen and Rev. Dr. L. H. Chamberlain, co-pastors, officiating.

Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio on Monday, January 22, 2007 at 2:00 PM with full military honors.
