Rose Shay , 98, Office Assistant of Dr. M.C. Kolczun, Sr. for 35 years

She was born March 18, 1908 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Rose worked as an office assistant for Dr. M.C. Kolczun, Sr. in Lorain for 35 years retiring in 1974.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Women’s Guild.

Rose enjoyed reading, playing cards, bingo and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter Doris Glavan of Lorain, 3 grandchildren: Deb Gelenius of Lorain, Franklin Glavan of Madison, Alabama and Calvin Glavan of Bonita Springs, Florida, 2 great grandchildren Kyle Gelenius and Kara Gelenius, 2 step great grandchildren Rose Smith and Nikki Smith and 1 step great great granddaughter Mckenzie Miller, sisters Mildred “Dolly” Pakos of Lorain and Dorothy Pakos of Avon Lake and brother Tony Pakos of California. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Steve Shay on April 11, 1980, parents Martin and Mary Pakos (nee Papajcik), brothers Marty Pakos and Steve Pakos and sisters Vera Pakos, Anna “Honey” Pakos, Lil Novak, Julie “Peppy” Nickel and Theresa “Tess” Morehart.

The family will receive friends Friday 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial Friday at 11:30 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 309 7th St., Lorain. The Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
