John Paul Roebuck, 69, Toll Collector

John Paul Roebuck, 69 of Lorain died Saturday evening, February 10, 2007, at New Life Hospice Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Roebuck was born in Smock, PA on January 6, 1938. He has lived in Lorain since 1962. He was a US Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He earned the Good Conduct Medal.

He retired in 2006 as a toll collector for the Ohio Turnpike Commission where he was employed for 14 years. Previously he had worked for Immigration and Naturalization Services in Cleveland and Sandusky and was an air traffic controller in Oberlin.

Mr. Roebuck enjoyed fine dining, reading, sports and walking. He was a member of the IAV and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his loving wife Katherine (nee Johnson) Roebuck, a daughter Michele Kanaris of Middleburg Heights, OH, and one grandson, Simon. Brothers Bernard Roebuck of Parma and Gene Roebuck of Avon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Brownie and Stella (nee Muhar) Roebuck.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 15, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. in Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio.

Funeral services will be on Friday, February 16, 2007, at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave. Lorain, OH, at 10:00 AM. The Reverend Joseph West, pastor will officiate.

Burial will be on Friday, February 16, 2007, at 12:30 PM in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman, OH 44270 with full military honors.
