Raymond P. Dellinger, 85, U.S. Marine Veteran
Raymond P. Dellinger, 85 of Lorain died Thursday, February 15, 2007, at Community Health Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.Mr. Dellinger was born in Jerome, VA on October 21, 1921. He lived in Lorain for the majority of his life. He was a US Marine Corps veteran serving in during WWII in the Central Pacific Area. He obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and was a Sunday School teacher for 40 years.
He was a retired general foremen with US Steel. He was also a member of the US Steel Management Golf League. He is survived by his wife Madalyn (nee Shawver) Dellinger, daughters Cheryl Szpak of Cleveland, Pam Taylor of Lorain, son Ken Dellinger of Lorain, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, sisters Miriam Riegelsberger of Avon, Betty Caudill of Lorain, and Elvia Dellinger of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Paul and Victoria A. (nee Dellinger) Dellinger and 1 sister and 3 brothers
Friends may call on Monday, February 19, 2007, from noon until service time at 1:00 PM in Grave Baptist Church, 719 Root Road, Lorain. The Rev. Jay Roller, pastor of Grace Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery with full military honors provided jointly by the American Legion Post 30 and the VFW Post 451.
