William O. Clark IV, 85, Enjoyed Golf and Fishing

William O. Clark IV, 85, of Vermilion, died Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, after a one year illness.

He was born February 24, 1921 in LaGrange, IL and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 65 years.

He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp serving during WWII. He flew a P-38 Lightening.

Mr. Clark was a factory manager at New Departure Hyatt, Sandusky, a division of General Motors. He retired in 1979.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion. He was past commander of the Vermilion American Legion Post #397 and a member of Vermilion AMVETS Post #22, and Ely Masonic Lodge # 424. He served on the Vermilion School Board during the building of Lake School and Ritter Public Library. He enjoyed golf, fishing and painting with water colors.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucile (nee Hull) Clark, 4 sons, William O. Clark, V of Kirtland, OH, Timothy H. Clark of Tampa , FL, Mitchell Clark of Temperance, MI and Jonathan Clark of Vermilion; 9 grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Clark of Vermilion.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William O. and Amelia (nee Olson) Clark; a brother, James Clark and a sister, Janet Clark.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 23, 2007 from 6-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct an evening military service at 7 pm.

Funeral services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Saturday, February 24, 2007, at 11 am with The Reverend Louis Breton officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
