Paul Hnatiak, Jr., 88, Proprietor of Lands End Marina

Paul Hnatiak, Jr., 88, of Marblehead, died Saturday February 24, 2007 at his home.

He was born August 25, 1918 in Parma and had resided in Marblehead for the past 46 years.

Paul served with the US Army Air Corps during World War II as an Aircraft Mechanic and was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Ft. Walton, Florida.

In the 1950’s Paul owned and operated Parma Auto Body in Parma. When he moved to Marblehead he owned and operated Lands End Marina for 46 years. Later he worked as an independent automobile tool salesperson in the Erie County area.

He enjoyed fishing and boating.

He is survived by his son Steven M. Hnatiak of Akron, daughter Janet S. Akosi of Vermilion, 3 grandchildren and sisters Anne Kwasny and Julia Pleva, both of Parma. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Julia (nee Mokriy) in 1997, parents Paul and Anastasia Hnatiak, Sr and brother Michael Hnatiak.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 28, 2007, from 5-8 PM at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM at Neidecker-LeVeck-Crosser Funeral Home, 7755 E. Harbor Rd., Marblehead. The Rev. Basil Hutsko, pastor of St. Mary Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Marblehead, will preside. Burial will follow in St. Mary Byzantine Cemetery in Marblehead where the VFW Post # 7572 of Marblehead will conduct military honors.
