Stanley �China� Demich, 78, Lake Terminal Railroad Retiree
Stanley China Demich, 78, of Sheffield Township, died Tuesday February 27, 2007 at Golden Acres Nursing Home in Amherst after a long illness.He was born August 16, 1928 in Sheffield Township and had been a lifelong resident of the area.
Stanley worked as a trainman on the Lake Terminal Railroad for 34 years retiring in 1983. He also worked as a carpenter.
He was a member of the United Transportation Union Local #1391. As a young man he played league baseball and also was an avid bowler. He enjoyed watching sports and vacationing in Florida.
He is survived by his daughter Sharon Harper of Lorain, sons: Walter Demich of Sheffield Township, Ronald Demich of Lorain, Jack Demich of Sheffield Township and Timithy Demich of Grafton, stepsons Richard Cain and Dennis Cain, both of Lorain, brothers Michael Demich of Lorain, Nicholas Demich of Amherst and Charles Demich of Sheffield Township, 8 grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Georgia Demich (nee Thompson), parents Steve and Mary Demich (nee Hrapel), daughter Bonnie Colley, sisters Helen Demich, Anna Demich, Mildred Demich and Elizabeth Demich and brothers Joseph Demich, Steve Demich and Peter Demich.
The family will receive friends Thursday 4-8 PM at Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where a Pomen Service will be held Thursday at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday at 12:00 noon in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Milorad Orlich, pastor of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Lorain, presiding. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
