June Caprice Balzer, 87, Enjoyed Grandchildren and the Outdoors

June Caprice Balzer (nee: Twigg), 87 years of age, and a resident of Brownhelm Township, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2007 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain.

She was born May 21, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio. Raised in Elyria, she has been a resident of Brownhelm Township for the last thirty-eight years.

June was employed with ARA Food Services for seventeen years, retiring in 1990 as a line server. A member of St. John United Church of Christ in South Amherst, she enjoyed being with her grandchildren and being outdoors.

Survivors include her daughter Carla Mullins o Amherst, with whom she made her home since January 2004; her step-son Carl “Sonny” Balzer, Jr. of Amherst, seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and her sister Leona Wieber of LaCross, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Carl “Chuck” Balzer, Sr. on November 23, 1997 and by her parents Richard Twigg and Edith Twigg Kane (nee: Witt).

Friends may call Wednesday, March 14, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Paul Easton, pastor of St. John United Church of Christ of South Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the family of Carla Mullins.
