Clare H. Reinhard, 87, Data Processing Manager

Clare H. Reinhard, 87 years of age, and a resident of Oberlin, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a brief illness.

He was born January 11, 1920 in Amherst. Oberlin has been his home since 1931 where he graduated from Oberlin High School with the class of 1937. He was also a graduate of Oberlin School of Commerce.

He served with the US Army during World War II as a radio operator where he received the American Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Clare was employed with the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland for thirty-one years as a Data Processing Manager. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Oberlin and the Oberlin Masonic Lodge #380 where he served as past Master. His hobbies included coin collecting and Hamm Radio.

Survivors include his sons Allen B. Reinhard of Nantucket, Massachusetts and Robert L. Reinhard of Concord, new Hampshire; his daughters Cynthia H. Chen of Senoia, Georgia, Nancy L. Bramson of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Alice J. Cuson of Oberlin and Carol F. Sweany of Amherst; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years Gwendolyn Alice Reinhard (nee: Rae) on September 1, 1999; by his parents Henry J. and Vila Reinhard (nee: Dute) by his brothers Walter Reinhard and Lloyd Reinhard; and by his sister Lulu Reinhard.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. The Rev. Robert Hooker, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Oberlin will officiate. Burial will be in Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to CHP Regional Foundation/New Life Hospice, 3700 Kolbe Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
