Alfred R. Zimmerman, 86, Molder
Alfred R. Zimmerman, 86, of Sheffield Township, died Monday March 26, 2007 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a lengthy illness.He was born March 6, 1921 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain/Sheffield Township resident.
Alfred worked as a molder at American Crucible for 43 years retiring in 1984.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain, the Holy Trinity Seniors and the American Slovak Club.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Dorothy (nee Caco), daughter Christine Lydia Zimmerman of Lorain and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John & Lydia Zimmerman (nee Krebs), sisters: Lydia Zavitz, Nancy Luman, Jenny Luman, Ruth Copper, Loretta Penson and Mildred Beingesser and brothers James Gibson, Willard Gibson, Edward Gibson and Charles Zimmerman.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 26, 2007, from 2-4, 7-9 PM at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
