Mary Lou Wolff, 89, Corporate Financial Officer @ Nelson Stud
Mary Lou Wolff (nee Warhola), 89, of Vermilion, died Thursday March 29, 2007 at Kingston of Vermilion Nursing Home after a brief stay.She was born October 18, 1917 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident moving to Vermilion in 2004.
Mrs. Wolff graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1934B at the age of 16. At Lorain High she was a member of the Girls’ L Club that encouraged interest in sports among the girls. She proudly wore her L sweater in several yearbook pictures. She was captain of the Senior B Interclass Basketball Team, and also played on the tennis and volleyball interclass teams.
Mary Lou worked at Ohio Edison and retired from Nelson Stud Welding in 1980 after years of dedicated service, where she rose from secretary to a Corporate Financial Officer. She and husband Al also owned and managed the Grafton Movie Theater during the early 1950’s.
She led an active life playing golf and bowling in several leagues in Lorain well into her sixties. She also enjoyed playing cards, quilting and traveling. She was a member of Zonta, the Saxon and American Slovak clubs and the Vermilion Golden Agers. Once retired, Mary Lou was a regular volunteer at St. Joseph and Community Health Partners Hospitals. Mrs. Wolff was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain.
Mary Lou is survived by son and daughter-in-law Dr. Robert and Linda Wolff of Miami, Florida, brothers Dr. Robert Warhola of Port Arthur, Texas and Dr. Michael Warhola of Tampa, Florida, granddaughter Jessica Wolff of Houston, Texas, grandsons Brian and Michael Wolff of Miami, Florida, great granddaughter Mia Wolff of Miami, daughter-in-law Susan Wolff Little and a wide circle of friends both locally and nationally. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Albert M. Wolff in 1985, companion Richard Paysor in 2004, son Randall Wolff in 1993, sister Margaret Weaver in 1996, and her parents Michael in 1978 and Margaret Warhola (nee Cauner) in 1971.
The family will receive friends Monday 4-8 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain, OH. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 N. Ridge Road in Amherst Township.
