Andrew ''Jack'' Denney, 79, Enjoyed Gardening & Fishing

He was born December 16, 1927 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky. He has been a resident of this area for the last fifty-seven years.

He was employed at The Cleveland Quarries in South Amherst from 1950 to 1968. His later employment was with Kerr Beverage in Lorain for twenty years retiring in 1990 as a mechanic. Jack was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Amherst, the Amherst Stonington Masonic Lodge #503, and the Lorain Teamsters Union. His hobbies included gardening, working on cars, fishing and he loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years Dolly Denney (nee: Barley); his sons Charles R. Denney, Sr. of Lorain and Ronnie D. Denney of Vermilion; his daughters Jackie F. Poyle of South Amherst and Tracey S. Smith of Oberlin; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his brothers Claud Denney of Dublin, Georgia and Ray Denney of Lexington, Kentucky; and his sisters Mary King of Lexington, Kentucky and Clarice Sumner of Crab Orchard, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Sally Denney (nee: Simpson); by his brother Othomer Denney; and four brothers and two sisters in infancy.

Friends may call Thursday, April 12, 2007, from 4-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst with a Masonic Service conducted by the Stonington Masonic Lodge #503 at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 13, 2007 at 1 p.m. from oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church; 9457 Baumhart Rd., Amherst. The Rev. Earl Conner, pastor of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and Rev. Carson Fraley, pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church in South Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
