Donald E. Kozich, 79, US Steel Retiree, Enjoyed Traveling in His RV

Donald E. Kozich, 79, of Lorain, died Wednesday April 11, 2007 at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Florida after a sudden illness.

He was born May 8, 1927 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Don was a graduate of Lorain High School and attended Fenn College in Cleveland. He served with the US Navy during World War II.

Don worked as a welding foreman at US Steel in Lorain retiring in 1985. Prior to that he worked at Lee Wilson Engineering in Rocky River as a project engineer. He also worked for 6 years as a Lorain Fire Fighter.

He enjoyed camping and traveling in his RV and woodworking. He played fast pitch softball where he was a pitcher up until his 50’s.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Helen T. Kozich (nee Miller), sons: Donald Kozich of Lorain, Edward Kozich of Avon, John Kozich of Lorain and Daniel Kozich of Irvine, California, daughters Kim Catanzarite of Lorain and Cindy Vidovich of Toledo, 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and brother Elmer Kozich of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his grandson Jason Kalo, parents John and Elsie Kozich (nee Barna), sister Goldie Kozich and brother John Kozich.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 16, 2007, from 4-8 PM at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Peter Toth, pastor of Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
